The Loopholes of Animal Testing Cosmetic Products in Australia
Did you know that testing a finished cosmetic product on animals is not permitted in Australia? How great is that?!
HOWEVER- chemicals can still be tested on animals if they can justify that the ingredient for non-cosmetic purposes.
What this means, is that a chemical ingredient that is going to be used in a foundation (cosmetic) AND a washing detergent (non-cosmetic) can STILL be tested on animals.
Because of this “multi-use” loophole, many ingredients are still tested on animals to be used in cosmetic products in Australia.
This is not to mention that the majority of current Australian cosmetics contain imported ingredients which have been tested on animals in another country at some point in time.
And Australia is known for it’s strict regulations! Imagine a country that is not!
According to PeTA, the following companies still pay for their products to be tested on animals in China;
CLINIQUE
ESTEE LAUDER
MARY KAY
MAYBELLINE
Companies that do not test on animals will be super proud to tell you and will have it marked on the labels.
11:11 Lab is loud and proud to say that all ingredients are 100% not tested on animals and are also vegan friendly. The ingredients are sourced and made in Australia.
